Nepenthes ampullaria is a classic lowland species occurring throughout Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, and Papua New Guinea. This clone was selectively bred from two of the best individuals in cultivation (William’s Red x Harlequin). This Borneo Exotics clone (BE-3681) exhibits bright red coloration with some light green striping. This species makes a great specimen for a warm terrarium or greenhouse. Since the pitchers have evolved to feed on detritus instead of insects, they don't produce the harsh acid environment of others species, therefore ampullaria also makes a great companion plant for frog species, reptiles and invertebrates.
