Drosera oblanceolata
Drosera oblanceolata forms attractive rosettes of elongated, wedge-shaped leaves covered in glistening tentacles with large globs of mucilage. Under strong light, the leaves can develop brilliant red coloration, making this species particularly striking. Mature plants can develop a short stem as older leaves die away, eventually producing dense clusters of colorful foliage.
Drosera oblanceolata is native to southern China, including Hong Kong and neighboring Guangdong, where it grows in wet, open habitats on hillsides and around rocky seeps. The subtropical climate of its native range includes warm, humid summers and cooler winters. In cultivation, D. oblanceolata appreciates bright light, consistently moist soil, and warm to intermediate temperatures. It is an adaptable species that responds particularly well to strong illumination, which encourages compact growth and intense coloration.
