Drosera cuneifolia, CAR-1366
This striking South African sundew forms compact rosettes of broad, wedge-shaped leaves covered in glistening, insect-catching tentacles. The broad leaves give this species a more substantial appearance compared with many other rosette-forming sundews. Strong light can bring out attractive reddish coloration in the leaves and tentacles. Mature plants produce showy pink flowers.
In its natural habitat, Drosera cuneifolia is native to the Cape region of South Africa, where it grows along the summit of the famous Table Mountain overlooking Cape Town. The habitat experiences a Mediterranean-type climate with cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers. In cultivation, it appreciates bright light and cool to moderate temperatures during active growth. This species sometimes goes dormant during warmer weather and will return from its roots after a short rest period.
