Nepenthes albomarginata Kuching Spotted

Regular price $74.99

Nepenthes albomarginata is a widespread lowland species from throughout peninsular Malaysia, Borneo and Sumatra.  Its signature characteristic is a white ring underneath the peristome which functions as an extremely effective termite bait.  We’ve observed plants in the wild filled to the brim with termites (and subsequently the white exudate had been eaten off).

The plants for sale are a purple variant from the Kuching area and were produced by Malesiana Tropicals.  The purple colored pitcher contrasts beautifully with the white lip while the hirsute pitcher texture gives them a felt-like feel.

Nepenthes albomarginata is best grown as an intermediate to lowland species.  It needs good drainage or it's prone to fungal infections!  We use net pots and a well drained media.  Good air movement is also appreciated.
