Nepenthes truncata (HL reddish leaves x JB), CAR-0646
Nepenthes truncata is one of largest Nepenthes species and one of the most spectacular. It's a Phillipines endemic, native to the islands of Mindanao, Dinagat and Leyte. There's a wide variation of morphology and habitats across its range. Each one is unique and beautiful and we're happy to be working to line breed the best of this beautiful species.
Nepenthes truncata (HL reddish leaves x JB), CAR-0646 is a cross between two of our best forms of truncata. Nepenthes truncata Highland Reddish Leaves came to us by the way of Andreas Wistuba in the early 2010's. However, this clone is markedly different the the male higland reddish leaves clone currently marketed. The male comes from the collection of the late Jim Bockowski and has produced huge pitchers 19 inches tall. We're not sure of the provenance of the JB plant; however, it's clearly a distinct population. We expect some exceptional vigor since this is a cross between plants from distinct populations.
