Nepenthes alata is vigorous growing species from the Phillipines. The taxonomy of the alata affiliated groups was recently redone, leading to the taxa being broken up into a number of species. Therefore, true Nepenthes alata is actually quite rare in cultivation and these plants originate from that population.
