Nepenthes Trusmadiensis (BE clone 1) x edwardsiana "Empire", "The Kraken" CAR-1197
This spectacular hybrid combines three of the most impressive Nepenthes species in the world, bringing together aggressively toothy parents with large size and bold coloration. “The Kraken” was the unofficial name given to this grex by Eric Jung and Robin Hirst, who first collaborated to produce the cross several years ago. The results were outstanding, as displayed by our plants in the video. This offering is a remake using the same male N. edwardsiana, but with a sibling N. × Trusmadiensis (= lowii x macrophylla) clone from Borneo Exotics. We expect stunning results, combining aggressive teeth and dramatic peristomes with bold coloration, including the potential for heavily striped individuals.
In cultivation, N. × Trusmadiensis × edwardsiana prefers highland conditions with bright light, high humidity, mild daytime temperatures, and cool nights. Like many hybrids involving N. lowii, N. macrophylla, and N. edwardsiana, these plants may require some patience when young, but their exceptional pedigree makes this an outstanding hybrid for collectors seeking some of the most dramatic pitcher morphology in the genus.
