This is the Philodendron species that got us hooked from the beginning. The captivating, iridescent sheen on the velvety leaves is always stunning. P. verrucosum is a climbing species that requires a totem for support in order to produce full sized leaves. If given warm, humid conditions with adequate light, it grows FAST.
The native range of Philodendron verrucusom spans from Central America all the way south to Peru. We grow a wide range of outstanding ecotypes. "Carmin" may be the best verrucosum in cultivation! The frontside (adaxial) of the leaves open up a beautiful sunset orange/red and then age to an iridescent green with beautiful veining while the backside (abaxial) of the leaves are a blood red. The stems and petioles are red as well.
NOTE: Photos of plant 2 were taken 3 weeks ago and plant has been developing even more root growth since.
