Sarracenia flava var. atropurpurea

Regular price $60.00

Sarracenia flava is an American Pitcher Plant found in bogs from Alabama up the eastern seaboard into Virginia.  Flava var. atropurpurea varieties occur in both in the Florida panhandle and in the Carolinas.  The genetics of the 2 locations are distinct with the Florida variants seemingly closely related to very heavy veined var. ornata varieties while the Carolina varieties seem to be extreme versions of var. cuprea.    Sunny conditions required for full color and flava produces its best pitchers early in the season.

All photos are from plants typical of the var. atropurpurea variety from the Florida Panhandle.  Please see the information below regarding the exact clone offered for sale.
