Sarracenia Maroon, IMP-0012
Sarracenia x Maroon is a stunning American pitcher plant prized for its exceptionally dark, velvety coloration and beautifully ruffled pitchers. Mature plants develop rich maroon to deep blood-red traps that hold their dramatic color throughout the seasons, even maintaining an impressive display during Winter dormancy.
This compact, naturally occurring hybrid combines the hardy, sculptural form of
purpurea with the elegance and refined coloration of rubra, resulting in a plant that stands out immediately in any bog planting, terrarium, or carnivorous plant collection. The moderately sized pitchers form dense clumps over time, creating an especially striking display under strong sunlight.
In early Spring, Sarracenia x Maroon produces fragrant dark red flowers that add another layer of interest before the new flush of pitchers emerges. Easy to grow and adaptable, this hybrid thrives in open, sunny, consistently wet conditions and performs exceptionally well in outdoor bog gardens.
Plants are shipped bareroot with pitchers and phyllodia intact. Check out our sizing guide
